The work is from the author’s studio.
Ivan Pokorný first studied at the glassmaking secondary and, later, college in Nový Bor. He then graduated from the Glass Studio at the University of J. E. Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem. Since 2014, he has been an assistant in the Glass Studio at the AAAD in Prague.
This sculpture is from the Pollen series, which is based on the author’s allergy to pollen. Ivan Pokorný followed the saying “know thine enemy” and was inspired by enlarged photographs of various types of pollen. He thus created distinctive works in which few would detect that they were inspired by nature.
